The Airport User-Experience Simulation System (A-UX) is a fully immersive and interactive desktop and virtual reality system that may be adapted to any airport. A-UX is designed to support travellers with disabilities and travel anxiety, provide empathy training to airport staff, and facilitate interactive project review.
Exposure therapy
A-UX exposure therapy gives you a chance to become familiar with an airport’s busy environment using an interactive desktop or Virtual Reality simulation. Using this tool before traveling can help you manage any fears or anxiety before you arrive at the airport.
As you start the A-UX simulation, moving through the airport, you can ‘dial down’ noise, lighting, and activity as you get accustomed to the space and airport processes. Slowly, you can then ‘dial up’ to experience the airport when it is busiest. These simulated scenarios help manage anxiety and support life skills learning.
